Why Couples Seek Therapy When Talking Isn’t Enough

Most couples who come to therapy have already tried talking things through, but they keep hitting the same roadblocks. Emotions take over, the same issues come up, and they realize they can't do it alone. Therapy helps uncover where that disconnect is, understand each other’s perspectives, and find a way forward together.

Is Couples Therapy Only for Serious Problems?

It’s not about how serious something seems from the outside. If there is a topic that is bothering you or causing discomfort in your relationship, it’s worth discussing and working through.

Many couples come simply to strengthen an already healthy relationship and keep it that way.

How I Work

I’m not taking sides. Both people need to feel heard. I make sure there’s space for each person to speak and for both perspectives to be understood.

I’m not focusing on deficits. We’re not here to catalogue what’s wrong. We’re focusing on what can change and how things can get better.

I believe there is a way forward. Often therapy helps couples reconnect and strengthen their relationship. The goal is to find the healthiest way forward for both of you.

My Background

I was born in the United States and have been living in Austria since 2009. I bring both an international academic background, with a Master’s degrees in Psychology from the US and Austria, and many years of experience across cultures.

As someone with personal experience of international relationships and parenting across cultures, I have experienced differences in language, culture, and expectations that can shape a relationship.

I work in English and speak German at C1 level, allowing me to work comfortably with international and bilingual couples. Can we speak German with you? What does comfortable work mean here exactly.

Fees

Couples therapy sessions are 90 minutes and cost €80.
